Windowpane Quilt

So, I've been away for a while..but I'm back at it again. My latest creation is a windowpane quilt designed strictly out of fat quarters purchased at a local Joann's store. I added a chenille backing with a self-bind which eliminated the need for batting or binding.

I'm not super happy with the color/fabric combinations, but it was very difficult to find seven coordinating fabrics...but not bad for my first quilt (non-rag).

Monkey Rag Quilt

So, I'm back at it again, working on an adult-size rag quilt. Color selections were brown and blue..and what do you know? Joann's Fabrics had the cutest monkey flannel pattern. I opted to do something a little different this time. Instead of using all 6 inch squares, I decided to incorporate some 11 inch squares into the bunch. There's a photo of the pieced squares before stitching on my sewing machine. I am also attaching a photo of a few blocks up close so you can see the fabric selections.

Princess Sock Monkey

I have finally completed a princess Sock Monkey for a little girl. Princess fabric was purchased at Joann's. I love the frog, princess, and tiaras on the fabric...too cute! A layer of tulle was added under the dress for volume. I made sure to stitch on the bows that were attached to the monkey's feet, hands and head. I embroidered the little girl's name on the bib of the dress using my Singer Confidence 7470's block alphabet stitches. Tulle embellishments were also added to the headband and bib of the dress. Voila! Princess Sock Monkey!!

Rag Quilt

Attached is a photo of my completed rag quilt for a friend's daughter's birthday. I selected coordinating fabric from the Debbie Mumm line at Joann's Fabrics. I cut six inch squares and used a layer of pink flannel for the center and back layers. I washed it once at the laundromat without any detergent and then took it home to dry. It came out so cute!

Ribbon-Edged Cardigan

I just completed the Ribbon-Edged cardigan from the Debbie Bliss book, "Special Knits" for a friend's daughter in size 12-24 months. I used five balls of Zitron Ecco yarn in the color Taupe (106) and added an ivory trim and shell buttons to accent the garment. I blocked the garment before adding the trim using invisible thread.

I'm finally done with the Alexi Cardigan!

I seamed up, added button and finally wore my Alexi Cardigan this weekend...just in time for the rain storm that came into San Diego. The weather hadn't been cool enough for me to wear the garment even if it was finished earlier. With that in mind, I am happy with the results. It will be a good weekend cardigan to wear with jeans. Now, off to finishing my numerous Christmas presents. I will be a busy bee this weekend!

Alexi Cardigan back update

I am going to finish knitting up to the 14” transition and then stop because I have noticed several comments in other's completed projects that the drop shoulder in the pattern runs a bit large. I am going to bring it into my knitting class on Tuesday night to see what options I have…I would prefer to make a set in sleeve, but not sure how to go about doing it.
